A ski binding comprises a tensioning cable 4 capable of being tensioned by means of a forwardly disposed tensioning device 3 and connected to the tensioning device without any elastic intermediate member being inserted therebetween, wherein the two strands of the tensioning cable extend rearwardly past the heel of the ski boot on either side thereof, the strands being supported from the heel by a supporting yoke 7 which is movable in relation to the cable strands in the direction of the longitudinal axis of the ski, the shape of the supporting yoke being complementary to the shape of a groove provided in the heel, the yoke engaging the groove in an area of considerable width and wherein at least one spring element acting in the pulling direction of the cable is provided between the cable and the supporting yoke. A threaded member 12 supports a spring 9 which is retained between the yoke member 7 and spring retainer 11 to which the two ends of the cable are hooked. A nut 15 on the member 12 tensions the spring. The yoke has end guide surfaces for the cable. In another embodiment the cable engages in a groove of a spring retainer 18 which mounts a cylindrical shank 19 in the bore of which is a shoulder which the head of a threaded bolt 21 engages. The other end of the bolt screws into a nut secured to the yoke. Turning the bolt tensions the cable. The spring may comprise a rubber block 9a mounted in two cup members 24, 25. The cup member 24 is secured to the yoke and has a pin guide for the block. The other cup has hook-shaped lugs 29 for guiding the cable. The ends of the cable may be hooked to a pair of springs 30, 31 extending from a connecting member 33 engaging a groove in an adjusting nut 35 on a threaded bolt 34 secured to the yoke. Fine adjustment of the tension may be by an adjusting screw in the cable or by adjusting means in the tensioning device 3, if the connecting member 33 is integral with the yoke. |
