ALL-OPTICAL FREQUENCY CONVERTER USING CROSS-POLARIZATION MODULATION AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: An electric light frequency conversion apparatus using a cross-polarization modulation method and method thereof are provided to secure wide LO(Local Oscillation) bandwidth by using an SOA(Semiconductor Optical Amplifier). CONSTITUTION: An light amplifier(110) differently receives a polarization-changed light LO signal and a frequency-modulated light IF(Intermediate Frequency) signal. A polarization control apparatus(120) controls the polarization of the cross-polarization modulated light LO signal of the light amplifier. A polarization splitter(130) pushes the polarization controlled light LO signal through an established polarization angle. The polarization splitter outputs a frequency up-converted optical RF(Radio Frequency) signal.
