BACK LIGHT UINT FOR LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY

PURPOSE: A backlight unit of a liquid crystal display device is provided to control the aperture ratio of a local dimming cell, thereby reducing power consumption of the backlight unit. CONSTITUTION: A WOLED(White Organic Light Emitting Diode) panel includes a WOLED. The WOLED panel directly irradiates surface light source type white light onto a liquid crystal display panel. A bank pattern(214C) partitions the WOLED panel to form local dimming cells. The bank pattern restricts light emitting areas of the local dimming cells. Brightness of each local dimming cell is adjusted. The aperture ratio of each local dimming cell is one or two times higher than the aperture ratio of a pixel of the liquid crystal display panel by an occupation area of the bank pattern.
