PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effective cleaning method for effectively washing away such an extraneous matter as polyester, etc., adhered to an aromatic polyester production apparatus comprised of a condensation polymerization tank having a partial condenser. SOLUTION: The method for cleaning an aromatic polyester production apparatus comprised of a condensation polymerization tank having a partial condenser using a mixture of glycols and primary or secondary amines as a washing solvent while heating and refluxing the solvent comprises controlling an amount of vapor generated in the condensation polymerization tank and/or a temperature of a heat medium at inlet of the partial condenser so as to keep an outlet gas temperature of the partial condenser at not higher than the temperature of the partial condenser at the inlet of the heating medium at the first half of the washing operation, and to keep an outlet gas temperature of the partial condenser at not lower than the temperature of the heating medium at the inlet of the partial condenser at the second half of the washing operation.
