<p>A polymerization control device has polymerization radiation source in form of ultraviolet and/or violet light source and/or near infrared heat source (18, 20) for impinging dental material (14); control device (26) for the polymerization radiation source; and sensor (24) connected to the control device and detects infrared radiation emitted by the dental material during polymerization. An independent claim is also included for a method for determining the degree of polymerization of polymerizable dental materials, comprising: (A) providing light and/or heat source, control device, and sensor; (B) polymerizing dental material in a polymerization area of a device with the light and/or heat source;and (C) controlling the light and/or heat source with the control device based on an output signal of the sensor, in which the sensor is directed to the polymerization area and detects an actual parameter of the dental material, in particular its temperature.</p> |
