PURPOSE: An actuator system for a hybrid excavator boom and a control method thereof are provided to prevent the unstable operation of a hydraulic pump motor and the system when a boom is descended. CONSTITUTION: An actuator system for a hybrid excavator boom comprises an electric motor(110), an ultra capacitor(115), a hydraulic pump motor(120), a boom control valve(125), a main pump(140), a motor bypass valve(200), and a control unit(160). The electric motor is powered by a power generator. The ultra capacitor stores electricity generated from the electric motor. The hydraulic pump motor supplies working fluid to a boom(100). The boom control valve selectively connects a discharge line(121) and an inflow line(122) of the hydraulic pump motor to a head(106) and a rod(107) of a boom cylinder(105). The boom cylinder activates the boom. The main pump supplies the working fluid to a bucket, a traveling motor, or an arm. The motor bypass valve is connected to the discharge line and the inflow line. The control unit controls the electric motor, the hydraulic pump motor, the boom control valve, and the motor bypass valve. |
