Surgical planning

A computer implemented method, apparatus and computer program product are described for creating a statistical shape model incorporating surgical planning information for a body part. Anatomical data is generated representing the anatomical shape of the body part from images of a plurality of training subjects. Planning data is generated which can be used to describe at least one planning property for a surgical procedure from images of the plurality of training subjects. A statistical shape model is created from the anatomical data and planning data.
