The roller winding barrel has a rolling core (15), which is radially and outwardly equipped with a functional lining (17) made of incompressible elastomer. A boundary layer (17a) of the functional lining is formed by an opening and a bar. The boundary layer is brought into active contact with the rolling core or a winding roll (5) by forming a nip (N). A maximum value range of 58 millimeters to 75 millimeters, particularly of 63 millimeters to 75 millimeters is obtained for the width (B) of the nip. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a roller winding device with a cutter section; and (2) a method for winding a material web, particularly a paper- or board web around a winding core.
