APPARATUS FOR PROCESSING A MULTI-CHANNEL AUDIO SIGNAL AND METHOD THEREOF

PURPOSE: A device for processing a multi-channel audio signal and a method thereof are provided to transmit HD non compressed multi channel audio signals using a universal multimedia cable such as an HDMI(High Definition Multimedia Interface) cable. CONSTITUTION: An encoding unit(130) encodes an audio signal. A control unit(140) transmits the encoded audio signal to a device based on an HDAI(High Definition Audio Interface) protocol. The encoded audio signal is 24 bits or 32 bits. The number of channels that the HDAI protocol can support is determined based on a sampling frequency of the encoded audio signal.
