Apparatus for cutting plates P to size or for cutting sections out of them comprises a circular saw and motor 32 pivotable into a horizontal or vertical plane on a carriage 30 which slides on a vertical rail 20 and the rail 20 has an upper guide carriage 21 movable horizontally on the upper guide 11 of a vertical work-support frame. The lower edge of the work P rests on brackets 14 on the lower rail 12 of the work support or on brackets 16 which can be brought into position by rotating a shaft 15 and the rear face of the work rests on wooden pegs 130 inserted in frame members 13. A pawl lever 34 clamps the saw in its two pivoted positions and a clamp screw 36 secures it in position on the rail 20; a cable counterweight system is provided for the saw. A bell-crank lever 22 clamps the carriage 21 to the rail 11 in adjusted position or in a rest position provided by a notch 110. Scales 18 and 23 are provided, the horizontal scale 18 having its zero point directly below the notch 110 and having an adjustable abutment 19. An auxiliary scale 24 with adjustable abutment 240 is pivoted on the saw carriage.</p> |
