A timer as disclosed in Specification 949,542 and having a motor driving a cam 41 (see Specification 949,544), and imparting one ratchet tooth movement to the wheel 34 and to a cam bank 32 actuating electric switches, each position of the bank controlling a timed interval in the process under control, has according to the present Specification a " subinterval " switch constituted by the various contact blades and cams prefixed " S " on the drawing. As the cam 41 and the wheel 62 both make a complete revolution for each timed interval of the cam bank, this subinterval switch carries out a complete switching sequence during each interval and this sequence is used to multiply the number of functions that can be carried out during this interval, a explained in the Specification with reference to a washing-machine.
