PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for charging a battery of an electric vehicle are provided to maximize energy use efficiency by using a plurality of dispersed power sources. CONSTITUTION: A charge terminal(110) transmits power to a battery(130) through a charge cable connected to a charger. A communication unit(120) receives power information including charge power rate information. The battery is used as a power source for driving a motor of an electric vehicle. A BMS(Battery Management System,140) provides status information to manage the battery. A charge mode setting unit(150) sets an instant charge mode for instantaneous charge, an eco charge mode for charging in a time zone of the lowest power charge rate, and etc. A charge control unit(160) calculates a charge amount for the battery based on battery information and user's preferable charge mode after completion of authentication. |
