PURPOSE: An optical compensation film and a liquid crystal display device are provided to reduce a thickness and manufacturing costs. CONSTITUTION: A liquid crystal layer of a liquid crystal cell(140) is placed between a first substrate and a second substrate. A first polarization plate(100) selectively transmits light. A zero retardation layer(120) is arranged between the first polarization plate and the first substrate. The zero retardation layer protects the first polarization plate. A second polarization plate(180) selectively transmits light which is transmitted through the liquid crystal cell. An optical compensation film(160) is arranged between the first polarization plate and the second polarization plate. |
