PURPOSE: A 3D image obtaining device and a method for extracting depth information from the 3D image obtaining device are provided to efficiently eliminate errors due to random noise which can occur in a light source, a light modulator, and a photographing device. CONSTITUTION: A light source(101) projects light onto a subject. A light modulator(103) modulates light reflected from the subject into a light modulation signal. An image photographing device(105) photographs light modulated by the light modulator. The image photographing device generates an image. A depth information image processing unit(107) calculates the distance from the subject using the image.
