PURPOSE: An acoustic underwater antenna, a u-boat with the antenna, and a method for direction detecting, position detecting and/or classifying of a target using the antenna are provided to reduce the number of antennas required at the side of a ship by integrating the functions of various antenna in the single antenna. CONSTITUTION: Antenna segments of an antenna(14) are extended from the stern of a ship(2) along a longitudinal side of the ship to the bow of the ship, turns around the bow of the ship, and is extended to the stern along the other longitudinal side of the ship. The antenna segments are installed on the hull of the ship.
