COOLING DEVICE OF LINEAR MOTOR

A cooling device of a linear motor includes a coil accommodated in slots of an iron core. A partition plate divides the inside of an elongate cover, covering end portions of the coil, into upper and lower spaces. The upper space is used as a ventilation portion; the lower space is used as a cooling portion in which the end portions of the coil are accommodated and cooled. A slot formed along the partition plate brings the ventilation and cooling portions into communication with each other. The lower portion of the cooling portion has a vent. This configuration sends a current of cooling air from blower means to the cooling portion at almost uniform pressure and temperature across the entire region in the longitudinal direction of the cover by passing through the slit from the ventilation portion enabling nearly homogenous cooling of the end portions of the coil.
