PURPOSE: Apparatus and method for reducing standby power of remote controller are provided to minimize standby power of a remote controller by providing standby power to a receive unit of a remote controller. CONSTITUTION: A power standby unit(40) stops operations at power standby mode. A charge unit(120) charges power through the power standby unit and applies operation power to a remote receiver at power standby mode. A charge controller(110) turns on the power standby unit and charges the charge unit.
