PURPOSE: A display device and a controlling method thereof are provided to implement multi-vision without a display device and to increase satisfaction of a user by increasing reliability of multi-vision implementation. CONSTITUTION: A signal distribution unit(210) distributes an image signal which is outputted from outside. A controlling unit(260) detects the image signal which is received through the signal distribution unit. The controlling unit controls external transmission of detection state information. A communication unit(250) transmits the detection state information to outside.
