An authentication system and method in a communication system using a PKMv2(Privacy Key Management version 2) authentication method are provided to improve QoS(Quality of Service) of a communication system. In authenticating an MS(100) in a communication system, before the first message informing that an EAP(Extensible Authentication Protocol) authentication has been successfully performed on the MS(Mobile Station)(100) from a BS(Base Station)(150), the second message informing that an SA-TEK(Security Association and Traffic Encryption Key) 3way handshake operation starts between the MS(100) and the BS(150) is received. As the second message is received, it is presumed that the first message has been received. The communication system uses a PKMv2 authentication method which is one of a PKMv2 EAP method, a PKMv2 RSA(Rivest Shamir Adleman)-EAP method, and a double EAP method. |
