PURPOSE: A hydraulic fan drive system for heavy construction equipment and a control method thereof are provided to reduce hydraulic pressure supplied to a radiator fan motor and an oil cooler fan motor by operating a solenoid valve. CONSTITUTION: A hydraulic fan drive system for heavy construction equipment comprises a solenoid valve(180). The solenoid valve is installed on a hydraulic pressure supply line(130) and reduces hydraulic pressure supplied from a fan pump(120) to a radiator fan motor(140) and an oil cooler fan motor. The fan pump is connected to a control unit(160) in which signals from cooling water, working fluid, and external air temperature sensors(171,172,173) are inputted. An operation lamp for displaying the operation state of the solenoid valve is installed on a dashboard.
