Biofuel production plants use biomass as a feedstock to produce biofuels. The high cost of transporting raw biomass from source to large biofuels production plants increases overall product production cost. This disclosure demonstrates a process where, biomass collected from source is processed at geographically distributed preprocessing and pretreatment facilities and then sent to biofuels production plants, which ultimately decreases feedstock transportation cost for biofuels production.
