PURPOSE: A method for purifying crude drug extract and a cosmetic composition using the extract are provided to promote proliferation of dermal papilla cells, keratinocytes, and NIH3T3 cells and to enhance melanin. CONSTITUTION: A cosmetic composition contains crude drug materials for preventing alopecia and promoting hair growth as an active ingredient. The crude drug materials include Angelicae gigantis Radix, Psoraleae Semen, Biotae orientalis Folium, Ecliptae Herba, Lycii Fructus, Rubi Fructus, Mori Radicis Cortex, Rehmanniae Radix Preparata, Ligustri Fructus, Polygonum multiflorum Thunberg, Sesami Semen, Sophorae Radix, Corydalis Tuber, Angelicae dahuricae Radix, Leonuri Herba, salviae Radix, Persicae Semen, Chrysanthemi Flos, ginseng, Cnidii Rhizoma, Albizziae Cortex, and extracted. A method for preparing extract of crude drug materials comprises: a step of extracting the crude drug materials with ethanol; a step of adding hydrolase and shaking to obtain culture; and a step of adding ethyl acetate to the culture and fractioning.
