Disclosed is a dry mix for treating refractory substrates, comprising - combustible particles of at least one oxidisable substance selected from the group comprising Si, Al and their combinations, which has a maximum size of particles less than or equal to 100 micrometre (um), and which, in the presence of oxygen and heat, gives rise to an exothermic reaction, and - particles of at least one other substance, wherein the combustible particles and particles of at least one other substance together form, during said exothermic reaction, a coherent mass capable of adhering to and/or interacting with the treated substrate, this mix comprising, as particles of at least one other substance, particles of at least one expanding substance having a maximum particle size less than or equal to 1mm, the dry mix without the particles of this at least one expanding substance having a first bulk density and the dry mix comprising said at least one expanding substance having a second bulk density lower than said first bulk density, and wherein said mix also comprises, as particles of at least one other substance, particles of at least one silica glass substance having a maximum particle size less than or equal to 1mm, as the majority part by weight of the mix. Also disclosed is a process of treating a refractory substance comprising projecting a jet of the dry mix, in the presences of oxygen, onto the substrate. |
