The assembly has perforations (26) forming elastic deformation units distributed around an asymmetrical or circular opening. A axially extending component e.g. pivoting staff (27), includes a disk-shaped part (24) that is plastically and elastically deformed using deformation tools (20, 21) to radially clamp a wall of a piece surrounding the opening by stressing the units in order to join together the assembly in a non-destructive manner for the piece. An external wall of the part has a shape corresponding to the opening, so as to exert uniform radial stress (B) on the wall of the piece. An independent claim is also included for a method for assembling an axially extending component in a piece.
