A side element (7) and a roller compensate torque acting during unfolding of a screen by interaction with gravity and/or with the fabric. The actuator includes a casing and an output shaft that are driven in rotation relative to the other when the actuator is active, and that are locked with respect to the other when the actuator is not active.
