摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable wavelength light source device which can start the device or change wavelength while minimizing an effect on a downstream device, and a method for controlling the device. <P>SOLUTION: A variable wavelength light source device 1 for generating and outputting laser light having a desired wavelength comprises: amplifying means (a gain element control circuit 37) for amplifying light outputted from a laser diode that changes emission wavelength depending on the temperature and injected current; temperature adjusting means (an LD temperature control circuit 35) for adjusting the temperature of the laser diode to a predetermined value corresponding to a target emission wavelength prior to outputting the laser light; temperature adjusting means (an etalon temperature control circuit 40) for adjusting the temperature of an etalon filter to the predetermined value corresponding to a target emission wavelength; and wavelength control means (a DFB-LD current control circuit 32, the LD temperature control circuit 35) which controls the amplifying means to increase power of the laser light to a final target power in a step-by-step manner when starting to output laser light, and which controls the temperature to provide the target wavelength of the laser light when the laser light power reaches the final target power. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
