PURPOSE: Method and system for providing portal service capable of performing a downgrade of a firmware are provided to receive an upgrade delta file for upgrading the firmware and a downgrade delta file for downgrading the firmware using a delta file download. CONSTITUTION: A method for providing portal service comprises the following steps: saving a received delta file in a delta file saving area, and performing a firmware upgrade using a controller(303, 305); controlling the operation of a portable terminal for the upgraded firmware using the controller(311); detecting the firmware downgrade request on the controller(313); and downgrading the firmware using the controller(315).
