<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve stabilization of the hue and improvement in the saturation of a scaly particle in yellowish-brown to yellow color by including titanium and iron. <P>SOLUTION: The scaly particle includes: a base material made of metallic oxide; titanium; and iron. A molar ratio (TiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>/Fe<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>) of titanium oxide (TiO<SB POS="POST">2</SB>) to iron oxide (Fe<SB POS="POST">2</SB>O<SB POS="POST">3</SB>) is 11 or higher when titanium is converted to titanium oxide and iron is converted to iron oxide respectively.
