[Also in Division B8] A length of tube has its ends folded at right angles as shown by the broken line in Fig. 3, before the ends are coated with adhesive, folded as in Fig. 6 to form cross-bottoms, and covered with sheets 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 8. In the embodiment shown the tube is fed by rotating suction members which commence separation of its ends. An unfolding yoke 7, 7<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 3, completes unfolding of the ends, along creases previously produced by a fluting device, to form base portions. The base portions are then fluted and have adhesive applied to them before being folded into cross-bottoms, one of which may have a filling valve. The cover sheets 11, 11<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 8, are then applied and these may be folded over opposite edges of the cross-bottoms which are folded horizontal as the bag leaves the machine. |
