PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information providing system and an on-vehicle device which reduce operational requests by a user and enable the user to perform an intuitive operation thereof.

SOLUTION: Text data according to requests of a user P is acquired by an on-vehicle device 1. An information analysis server 3 determines the source type of a retrieval object based on the text data acquired from the on-vehicle device 1. The information analysis server 3 retrieves information from a source related to the determined source type and transmits the retrieval result to the on-vehicle device 1. The on-vehicle device 1 presents the retrieval result received from the information analysis server 3 to the user P.
