COATING FOR SEALING MATERIAL AND USE THEREOF

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating capable of forming a sealing layer having excellent sealing performance and improved light transmittance and to provide a light-emitting diode produced by using the coating.

SOLUTION: The coating for a sealing material includes hydrophobic zirconium oxide particles having an average particle diameter of 5-50 nm and/or hydrophobic silica-based hollow particles having an average particle diameter of 5-200 nm and a matrix resin component, provided that the content of the particles is 10-90 wt.%. The hydrophobic particles contain a trialkylsilyl group on the surface and the solid weight content of the trialkylsilyl group is 10-100 wt.% in terms of (R3-SiO1/2) based on the amount of zirconium oxide particles and the silica-based hollow particles.
