<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical transmission system that attains good transmission characteristics by surely compensating or correcting a receiving data error caused by a modulation method or a multiplexing method for an optical signal, when receiving and transmitting the optical signal that can transmits multi-bit information for one symbol time. <P>SOLUTION: An optical transmission system includes: an optical transmitter 10; a transmission path 20; and an optical receiver 30. The optical transmitter 10 encodes transmission information according to a predetermined format and produces a plurality of transmission signals corresponding to each of a plurality of transmission channels. When an optical signal, in which light is modulated and produced according to the each transmission signal, is transmitted to the transmission path 20, variation in characteristics among the respective transmission channels occurring at propagation in the transmission path is averaged over the all transmission channels by giving a change to the state of the transmission light. The optical receiver 30 receives the optical signal in response to the change in the state given at the transmission and performs a decoding process including an error correction for the received signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
