The method involves delivering heat over a medium, where the medium is selected from one of a group consisting of water vapor, water, thermal oil and/or liquid salts or salt mixtures. Ambient air utilized as a heat carrier medium is partially filled with a granular and/or porous storage medium (6). The heat is emitted to the storage medium. A housing (16) of a storage module (29) is filled with the storage medium with average diameters of 2 to 80 mm. The storage medium is selected from one of a group consisting of sand, gravel, stones, corundum and/or graphite. An independent claim is also included for a high temperature heat accumulator comprising a storage module with a housing.
