<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for breaker cushion capable of concurrently satisfying reduction of fuel consumption and durability in a high dimension, and to provide a heavy duty tire having a breaker cushion produced by using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to the rubber composition for breaker cushion comprising a modified natural rubber with phosphorus content of 200 ppm or less, and 0.1-5 pts.mass of a compound represented by formula (1) per 100 pts.mass of the rubber component.
