<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a chip varistor that appropriately maintains ESD withstand, while reducing the capacitance without providing an internal electrode. <P>SOLUTION: A varistor part 7 consists of a sintered body containing ZnO as a main component, and manifests voltage nonlinear characteristics. A plurality of conductor parts 9 consist of the sintered body containing ZnO as a main component, and are arranged so as to sandwich the varistor part 7. Each conductor part 9 comprises a main surface 9a connected to the varistor part 7 and a main surface 9b opposed to the main surface 9a. A plurality of terminal electrodes 5 are connected to the main surfaces 9b of the plurality of conductor parts 9. The varistor part 7 comprises a first region 8a where alkaline metal exists; and a second region 8b which extends between the first main surfaces 9a of the plurality of conductor parts 9 and in which alkaline metal does not exist. The conductor part 9 comprises a first region 10a where alkaline metal exists; and a second region 10b which extends between the main surfaces 9a and 9b, and in which alkaline metal does not exist. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
