PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem in which: a display element such as an organic EL element deteriorates along the light emission and its light emission luminance decreases even at the same voltage to the display elements; therefore, the usage over time leads to pixel-to-pixel variations in light emission and causes a so-called "burn-in" phenomenon, and to provide a display device with less difference in pixel-to-pixel deterioration between the display elements and with low emission variations of the display elements of the pixels.
SOLUTION: The long cumulative lighting time of a particular pixel is avoided. For achieving this, the gradation of a display pattern is changed so as to suppress the difference in pixel-to-pixel deterioration of the display elements. Alternatively, fixed display of a particular display pattern in a particular region is avoided. Further alternatively, the pixel whose deterioration is slow is deteriorated so that the cumulative lighting times of the pixels are equal.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
