<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external preparation composition for skins and hairs which exhibits excellent light resistance, sustains the effect even in long-term usage, and maintains the effect of blocking long wavelength ultraviolet rays in long-term preservation. <P>SOLUTION: The composition contains an ultraviolet absorbing compound represented by formula (1), wherein R<SP POS="POST">1a</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1b</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1c</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1d</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">1e</SP>each independently denote a hydrogen atom or a substituent excluding OH, and at least one substituent denotes a substituent having a positive Hammett rule's σp value, and the substituents may bond to form a ring; and R<SP POS="POST">1g</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1h</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1i</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1j</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1k</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1m</SP>, R<SP POS="POST">1n</SP>and R<SP POS="POST">1p</SP>each independently denote a hydrogen atom or a monovalent substituent, and the substituents may bond to form a ring. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
