Disclosed in embodiments of the present invention are a method, a system, and a corresponding terminal for multimedia communications. The method comprises: a first terminal establishing a communication link with a second terminal; the first terminal determining, on the basis of a user operation, which multimedia file within a multimedia library a user has selected; the first terminal converting file code of the user-selected multimedia file into a dual-tone multi-frequency (DTMF) signal and sending said signal to the second terminal. The second terminal decodes the DTMF signal into file code, then retrieves and plays from a multimedia library a corresponding multimedia file on the basis of the file code. The method, system, and corresponding terminal for multimedia communications disclosed in embodiments of the present invention utilize DTMF signals to combine the mood of a multimedia performance with traditional voice communication, enabling an emotional experience richer than in traditional voice communication, thereby enhancing sentimental exchange by voice communication. |
