[Also in Division F1] A non-return valve for a compressor comprises parallel ribs 15, 16 spaced apart to form flow passages 28, the ribs being joined to anchoring portions 17. Preferably there are three ribs, the outer ones 15 of which are joined to the portion 17 and the inner one 16 connected by webs 18 to the outer ribs. The valve closure members are formed by strips 14 of steel, or other suitable resilient material, which extend along one face of the ribs, are folded round the rib ends and extend along the opposite face where the ends are secured, e.g. by riveting, at 22 remote from the rib ends. The portions 27 form the spring loading for the closures formed by the strips on the opposite sides of the ribs. The closure portions co-operate with seats formed in the cylinder head or the side of the cylinder. When the ribs are of arcuate shape, as shown, the assembly is used on the sides of the cylinder. When the ribs are planar members, the assembly is used with the cylinder head.</p> |
