POTENTIAL DIFFERENCE CONDITION DETERMINING METHOD AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus able to determine an appropriate potential difference condition while reducing time and effort required for an operator to evaluate the image quality of a test toner image.

SOLUTION: The method includes performing: a first pattern formation process for forming a first test pattern image formed from a plurality of test toner images transferred to a recording sheet under a plurality of bias conditions including DC components selected from the AC components and DC components of a secondary transfer bias and made different from one another; a DC component determining process for determining the value of the DC components based on information input by a user who has evaluated the image quality of the first test pattern image; a second pattern formation process for forming a second test pattern image formed from a plurality of test toner images transferred to a recording sheet under a plurality of bias conditions including the determined DC component and AC components of different values; and an AC component determining process for determining the value of each AC component based on information input by a user who has evaluated the image quality of the second test pattern image.
