<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable learning to suppress the deterioration in collation rate in personal authentication. <P>SOLUTION: A personal authentication device includes: tracking means for associating face areas estimated as the same face between continuous frames; feature data storage means for storing at least one or more sets of feature data detected from the face areas in association with persons for each person; and authentication means for authenticating an individual by comparing feature data of the face areas detected by face detection means with feature data stored in the feature data storage means. When a difference is determined between the continuous frames in an authentication result by the authentication means, regardless of the determination as the same face by the tracking means, the face areas are clearly indicated to thereby perform additional storage candidate display to urge a user to allow the feature data storage means to additionally store the feature data of the areas. When face detection and face recognition state is changed in photographing, the time point is recorded in a management file as a face point.
