The device has an exhaust gas processing unit (4) and a heat recovery element (5) which are arranged in an exhaust line (2-1), and a bypass pipe (2-2) connected to the exhaust line. The dosing/bypass valves (V1,V2) are arranged in the exhaust line before the heat recovery element in the direction of flow of gas streams. A portion of the exhaust gas is acted on a bypass pipe. The exhaust gases are accumulated by reducing the flow rate of dosing/bypass valves towards the internal combustion engine (3) according to the operating state of the internal combustion engine. An independent claim is included for method for distributing gas streams of internal combustion engine of vehicle.
