<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode composition for a battery having high capacity and small internal resistance and suffering only a small loss of the capacity caused by repeated cycles of charge and discharge, and an electrode and a battery using the electrode composition. <P>SOLUTION: An electrode composition contains a positive electrode active material obtained by compositing an alkali metal containing iron composite oxide (B) represented by the formula: A<SB POS="POST">y</SB>FeXO<SB POS="POST">4</SB>(A represents an alkali metal, X represents at least one element selected from the elements of the groups 4 to 7 and the groups 14 to 17 in the periodic table, and 0<y<2) and carbon; and a copolymer (P) obtained by the copolymerization of a monomer composition containing 70 to 99 wt.% of an α,β-unsaturated nitrile compound and 1 to 30 wt.% of (meth)acrylic acid ester.
