<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To secure appropriate display, visibility according to applications while saving power. <P>SOLUTION: When determination of a step S3 is NO, namely, a person is recognized in the surroundings, however, the surroundings are dark, for example, the case that a DPF is arranged in a dark bedroom where a user, etc. are asleep is assumed. In this case, an application which operates at present determines whether or not backlight is 'ON' in setting (a step S4). When the backlight is 'ON', a backlight 32 is maintained as an ON state (a step S5). At this time, when it is assumed that the DPF is arranged, for example, in the dark bedroom where the user, etc. are asleep, the user can confirm the present time which is displayed on a display part at any time in the bedroom.
