<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress generation of syneresis in a gel for an alkaline battery electrolyte, the gel being formed using carboxyl group-containing polymer particles. <P>SOLUTION: A gelator for an alkaline battery electrolyte comprises carboxyl group-containing polymer particles, and a viscosity of a 0.5 mass% solution thereof at pH 7 is 9,000-39,000 mPa s. In the gelator, mixture of air bubbles is hardly caused in forming a gel for an alkaline electrolyte, and the mixed air bubbles can be easily removed. In the carboxyl group-containing polymer particles, a viscosity of a 0.1 mass% solution thereof at pH 7 is preferably 2,000-7,000 mPa s. In a gel for an alkaline electrolyte formed using the gelator in the form, syneresis is hardly caused. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
