<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractable chuck device that withstands a large moment acting on a master jaw, without enlarging the device. <P>SOLUTION: The retractable chuck device includes in the chuck body 12 an actuator 14 that advances and retreats along the axial center. The actuator 14 is provided with a plurality of inclined holes 19 in equally divided directions around the axial center. Each inclined hole 19 extends in the direction inclined to the axial center, with a master jaw 15 inserted in the inclined holes 19. The master jaw 15 and the actuator 14 are relatively movable along the extending direction of the inclined holes 19. The rear end 15b of the master jaw 15 is supported on the chuck body 12 while its front end 15a is provided with a holding claw 13. When the actuator 14 moves back and forth in the axial center direction, at least the front end 15a of the master jaw 15 moves radially relative to the axial center, thereby allowing the holding claw 13 to clamp a workpiece W. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
