Embodiments of the present invention provide a detection device and method for detecting external connection of a radio frequency interface. The device comprises: a radio frequency switch connector and a detection circuit connected to the radio frequency switch connector. The detection circuit is configured to output a high level or a low level at a detection port of the detection circuit according to the insertion state of an external radio frequency plug with respect to the radio frequency switch connector. Through the embodiments of the present invention, the detection circuit converts the inserted state or non-inserted state of the external radio frequency plug into a direct current level and outputs the direct current level, so that it is convenient to detect an insertion state of the radio frequency switch connector.
