The invention relates to a method for producing a cadmium telluride solar cell, comprising the following steps: applying a transparent, conductive layer to a substrate; applying a layer made of cadmium sulfide to the transparent, conductive layer; applying a layer made of cadmium telluride to the cadmium sulfide layer; at least partial melting of a layer section of the cadmium telluride layer which is near the surface by means of laser radiation to deplete the cadmium telluride layer of cadmium; and separating a contact layer on the cadmium telluride layer.
