<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface-modified copper member in which activity and durability are improved through surface modification of copper. <P>SOLUTION: The surface-modified copper member has, on the surface of a substrate made of copper or a copper alloy, a carbon-doped oxide layer comprising a carbon-doped copper oxide layer or a carbon-doped copper alloy oxide layer. The carbon-doped oxide layer is formed by subjecting the substrate to either a heat-treatment using a combustion flame of gas containing a compound containing at least carbon or a heat-treatment in an atmosphere formed using combustion gas or combustion exhaust gas of gas containing a compound containing at least carbon. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
