The present invention provides a non-aqueous secondary battery having a high capacity and superior safety and charging/discharging cycling characteristics. An anode contains a material containing Si as a constituent element and a graphitic carbon material as an anode active material. A cathode contains a lithium-containing complex oxide represented by the belowmentioned general compositional formula (1) and containing sulfur in the range of 0.01-0.5 mass% inclusive as a cathode active material: Li1+yMO2 (1), where y is -0.3 = y < 0.3, M represents a group of at least 5 elements containing Ni, Co, Mn, and Mg and at least one of Al, Ba, Sr, Ti, and Zr, and with the Ni, Co, Mn, and Mg in units of mol% with respect to all the elements constituting M respectively being a, b, c, and d, and total fraction of Al, Ba, Sr, Ti, and Zr in units of mol% being e, 70 = a = 97, 0.5 < b < 30, 0.5 < c < 30, 0.5 < d < 30, -10 < c - d < 10, -8 = (c-d)/d = 8, and e < 10. |
